Tooth problems..?

I brush my teeth 3 times a day..drink plenty of water and milk..do everything right.(atleast in my mind)

yet Two of my teeth in the back of my mouth have broke because of cavities, scared to DEATH of my dentist because everytime i go in He says..are you sure your brushing?? Which i do!!

Dentist's in general freak me out,Not sure why they just do.

I have these horrible teeth problems yet my husband who FORGETS to brush all the time..Never flosses, And drinks soda like it's going out of style NEVER EVER EVER has cavities!!!

What is the freaking deal with that eh?

Tooth problems..?
Well the first thing I will advise you to do is switch dentists immediately. Try 1-800-dentist...they also have a website. I found the greatest dentist through them. Also when you do get a new dentist explain the trouble you had with the old one so this one knows in advance to not question your brushing.

I also had the same problem with my teeth (and yes it seems that most of us that care for our teeth are worse off than those who don't)...Anywho..My dentist recommended that I try the Crest Pro-Health toothpaste and mouthwash, also he pointed out that regular flossing, brushing in a 45 degree angle so that the tooth brush massages the gum line is more effective, brushing for two minutes at least twice a day is poignant. There is a toothbrush sold by dentists call the roto-dent, a bit expensive but is dentist recommended for its flossing and brushing technique.
Reply:Your very welcome. Good Luck!!! Report It

Reply:well he can only make you feel guility if you ALLOW him to ~ Look him right in the eye and stand tall and say of course Im brushing ~ I am not one of those floss fanatics but I do brush 3-4 times a day ~ Having soft teeth can be a real problem no matter how much you brush ~ Stand tall and good luck !
Reply:I'm in my 30's and I'm still freaked out by dentists. Those long needles and that thing they use that looks like a sling blade .... (shivers).

Ask your parents if you can choose another dentist. It's important that you have a dentist with whom you are comfortable and somewhat relaxed. I'm sure your parents will understand. :)

Good luck.
Reply:Sounds like you have weak, thin, brittle, or porous enamel. My parents both had that problem and had to have all their teeth removed by the time they were in their mid 30's. A prescription florride rinse would probably help. It sounds like your dentist is not listening to your concerns and automatically blames you. I would see another dentist for a second opinion.
Reply:I would go to a different dentist. You need to feel comfortable with the person that is taking care of your teeth. It sounds like you and your family have the same sort of problem mine does. My Mom always told me "soft" teeth run in her family. She is really freaky about her teeth and takes really good care of them, but she always has cavities and her teeth are always breaking.

Please don't let the fear of the dentist keep you from going. With the problems you have, you really need to make sure you are seeing the dentist on a regular basis.

Good luck!
Reply:You can brush all you want but if you don't brush and/or eat/drink the wrong things it doesn't mean anything. People think brushing is enough, but it isn't. You still get cavities between your teeth if you are not flossing. Thus, your teeth decay and break. Many of my patients brush and floss but they also chew sugary gum or drink pop throughout the day. Pops with that screw on cap are the worst. Also, there is no fluoride in the water where I live. So, most people here brush and floss and still get cavities b/c their enamel is just weak. It was never properly nurtured. Try adding a fluoride rinse to your oral hygiene regimen.
