My Aby just had a majority of his teeth pulled at the vet despite yearly visits. Is this a common problem with the breed or just my cat? He eats Nutro Nature's Choice cat food.
Are teeth problems common in Abyssinian cats?
Actually many of oriental breeds have teeth or mouth problems. It's not just aby's and it's more than common in them, despite the best of care.
Reply:if teeth in dogs and cats are not prevented from going rank then they will!
raw chicken necks are great for cleaning thier teeth. think preventitive rather than solution to a problem that has already caused much pain in your pet.
unfortunaltly its often un educated pet owners fault not the pets!!
Reply:Does he get yearly exams or yearly dental cleanings? If he just gets the yearly exams then that wont do anything for his teeth. It is a common problem with most pets to have a lot of gingivitis build up on their teeth because pets don't brush their teeth. A dental is recommended every year. Its best to only feed cats and dogs hard food because when they crunch the food it helps to remove plaque and gingivitis from their teeth. Wet food actually promotes it. So, to prevent more extractions start brushing your cats teeth and have the vet check his teeth at the yearly exam and have him/her determine if a dental is needed.
