Since I found out I was pregnant, I have had to have one tooth pulled and two root canals and a cavity filled, and im only 15wks prego. I tried to put the work off, but I couldknt take the pain. Has anyonelse had similiar problems? my main concern is the ex=rays, and the tyelenol I have been taking, also a penicillan. I know the doc said its ok, but I still worry and wanted some advice from someone who had the same problems. And was your baby ok in the end?
I am 15wks prego, and I have had nothing but teeth problems?
I have had 3 children and through all pregnacy's my teeth would hurt, break off, and etc....I went to the dentist they say that it was caused from to less calicium!!!!! YOUR UNBORN CHILD IS TAKING ALL YOUR CALCIUM....EAT A ROLAID EVERYDAY AND LOT'S OF MILK.
Reply:Yes. Pregnancy pulls calcium out of your entire body to give it to the fetus. I have known LOTS of women who have had lots of cavities and other tooth problems during and after a pregnancy.
Reply:They normally don't do x-rays if you are pregnant at least my dentist wouldn't years ago. I would ease off on the tyenol though and try just using things like anbesol for the tooth pain when you can. The antibiotic is ok. You need to talk to your doc though about all of your concerns as he is the one who can tell you more about what to do and what is ok and what is not ok as far as all of this.
Reply:Pregnancy is very draining on teeth. It is very common. My teeth were all good before children. Then they slowly got bad. And worse with each pregnancy. (4) I have only had to have one pulled, but I need a couple of more done. All back ones thank goodness! Just try to eat a healthy as you can. The baby gets whatever it needs first and the rest you get. If you don't have enough in your system from the baby it will take the nourishment from your body.
Reply:My teeth problems started when I was pregnant, but after I had my baby it got terrible. Almost all of my back teeth crumbled, some didn't even have cavities-they just crumbled away. Oddly, none of my front teeth (upper or lower) were affected. I got some dental work done while pregnant and as long as you don't use gas I think its okay. Its probably better in the long run to get one fixed now that is hurting instead of keeping on taking meds for the pain. I got crowns and one bridge on my back teeth.
Reply:I had major teeth problems when I was pregnant last year. I had a huge infection and posion running out of a tooth. They had an IV with penicillan into my system at the hospistal and than was given Penicillan Injections. I even had major mouth surgery and a root canal during my pregnancy. My baby was Born in Aug and she is fine.
Its ok to take those things. I was even on vicoden for weeks and the baby is healthy and happy. I had lost 4 babies before she came along and I was scared to do anything but after research and lots of medical advice I had the work done on my teeth and they were right. Its ok to have dental work done.
DO NOT PUT ANY NUMBING MEDICNE ON YOUR TEETH THAT IS OVER THE COUNTER%26gt; NOT SAFE!!
