Wisdom teeth problems?

Is there any advice anyone who has had this precedjure can give me that would ease some of the really heavy pain Im having other than pain medicine, I have visited the dentist and it is healing fine, no infection I just want some advice for anything that made you feel better.

Just a side note its been exactly a week sence the surguery.

Wisdom teeth problems?
IF YOU HAD A SURGICAL EXTRACTION WHERE BONE WAS REMOVED, THIS WILL BE MORE PAINFUL THAN A SIMPLE EXTRACTION. IF YOU ALSO HAVE SWELLING IBPROFEN AND WARM MOIST COMPRESSES 20 MIN ON AND 20 OFF WILL HELP TO GET THIS SWELLING DOWN.

ps ice will only be effective in the first 24 hours
Reply:And suburb cat your awnser was great I would have given you the best awnser had I thought you need it. keep the good advice coming. Report It

Reply:I had my wisdom teeth removed several years ago. It took about a few days for the pain to go away, then I felt sick for a couple of days because the clots were dissolving. What worked for me was to take my pain meds like clockwork so they never had the chance to fully wear off. I didn't like the narcs the dentist gave me, so I went with alternating Tylenol and ibuprofen - two Tylenol, wait two hours, two ibuprofen, wait two hours, two Tylenol, etc. When the pain got really bad, I alternated ice and heat against my cheeks - fifteen minutes of ice, then fifteen minutes of heat. Hang in there! You should be just about through with the pain part of it. Once you heal, you'll be glad they're gone, especially if they gave you tons of trouble before.

BTW: I also had a jaw tooth pulled this spring. That hurt longer than my wisdom teeth surgery did because the dentist broke the socket to get it out. That may be why yours are still painful.
Reply:I don't know how to answer this question, Julie, except to keep taking any medication prescribed for you or any that was given to you by the Chemist.

I don't know why you had surgery on your teeth but as my Mother used to say, "The longer you keep your wisdom teeth the wiser the person you can be." Well, I'm not sure if that is an old wives tale but I have had my now for 51 years but they have never erupted through. I spoke to a Dentist about it and even she isn't sure why?? They are just sitting there, doing nothing. Although lately my mouth has been starting to feel sore so maybe, they are finally getting 'restless' and want to come out and 'see the world'. All my children, my ex-husband and current husband have had their's come through. Sometimes I feel like a 'freak' but then that means I don't have as many teeth to clean as they do.

Good luck and I hope you get better soon.
