Teeth Problem?

I have yellow teeth and i dont smoke or drink or do drugs etc

I have had yellow teeth ever since i was little. I dont wanna try bleachin cuz that stuff cost alot.

What can i do? i think why my teeth are so yellow is because i had poor nutrition when i was younger?

Any tips, advice?

Teeth Problem?
The color of teeth is due to the color of the dentin that is under the enamel. The enamel is translucent and the dentin color shows through. You may have taken some tetracycline antibiotics when you were very young, which causes the unerupted tooth buds to color yellow. There is really nothing you can do about this except to have the teeth bleached. It is painless and usually very successful on yellowish teeth. Don't waste time or money with take home and store whitening stuff - not strong enough to make a difference, especially with very yellow teeth. Have it done in a dental office and you should get a nice result.
Reply:Crest whitening strips cost like 10 dollars.

You can also get your teeth covered, I'm not sure what it's called though. I have it. It feels just like normal teeth.
Reply:use whitening toothpaste (preferrably with sensitivity protection, as whitening agents can make teeth sensitive to hot, cold, sweets, etc) and also try something like Crest Whitestrips (generic brands which show improvement can cost as low as $15.00...try Eckerd or CVS if you don't want to shell out the $35 for Crest brand).

also, VERY IMPORTANT! after you do any sort of whitening, do NOT drink soda/coffee, eat anything dark in color, or preferrably, anything at all, for about 15min-half an hour.

this is because whitening products open the pores in your teeth to allow the bleach product to whiten, but the pores stay open afterward for a little while.

if you drink soda/coffee/etc. or eat anything dark, all that yucky color will enter the pores before they close, locking in all that junk and making your teeth look worse.

lastly, don't expect results right away, but you should see improvement in about 2 weeks. good luck!!! =D and smile. haha
Reply:if your that concerned you could knock them all out then get dentures
Reply:bush your teeth everyday and if that dont work than bleach your teeth and if your that concerned you could knock them all out then get dentures

Has anyone else had problems using Crest ProHealth Mouth Rinse?? Discoloration of Teeth?

yes. my son and daughter both used it and now their teeth hurt so bad. neither one of them have ever had a toothache and about a week into using it they were both complaining.

I had the same problem when I used the crest white strips.

If your teeth are hurting try using sensodyne toothpast, or a less expensive brand that IS NOT a whiteing toothpaste.

Good luck.

Has anyone else had problems using Crest ProHealth Mouth Rinse?? Discoloration of Teeth?
yeah i have, i just used it twice about 2 to 3 days ago and now i am having trouble tasting things. i emailed crest and just waiting for a reply
Reply:I started using this product March, 2006 as a recommendation from my dental hygienist. Since then, I have noticed a staining in-between my teeth that had not existed in the past. Also, this staining exists in the grooves of my teeth. I was uncertain if the staining was solely due to tea/coffee drinking. I drink a glass of tea daily and coffee a couple of times a week. Despite, I never had such staining in the past like what I've noticed recently. Also, I stopped using the mouth rinse for the last three days and have noticed a significant decrease in staining!!!!!

My bf with teeth problem.?
If anyone is going to break up with u because u were in an accident and lost ur teeth then they are a discrase!!!!
Reply:How important to women is it that a guy has nice teeth? Flip it around to apply to your situation and you have your answer.
Reply:1) you could ask him. but maybe he doesn't feel like you've been dating long enough to introduce to them. guys are dumb like that.

2) i would definitly love them unconditionally no matter what...teeth, no teeth...that shouldn't matter unless they are shallow!
Reply:no

Bones For Healthy Teeth?

Could someone please tell me a great brand of dog bones (not treats) to buy that will clean and strengthen a puppy's teeth? I've got a pom puppy and pom's are particularly susceptiable to teeth problems. I've tried greenies (although some don't like greenies, i know) but I'd like to get a bone that she can't eat a lot of it... just one she can chew for hours! Thanks!! :D

Bones For Healthy Teeth?
Raw bones are an excellent way to keep a dog's teeth clean and healthy. Never give her cooked bones as they can cause obstructions and I always supervised my dog while she chewed a bone. I used a good sturdy lamb bone that I got from a butcher. You should also get her used to having her teeth brushed with a good canine tooth paste.
Reply:I think the brand is actually called nylabone- and they can be chewed for years and are very good for dog's teeth- remove tartar... Any pet store should have one...

Teeth problem!?

Ok soo tomorrow I have to go to the orthadonist and last time I went he gave me a choice . .. .

1.I have 2 teeth taken out and no headgear or

either headgear and I keep my teeth. What should I choose?! My family and friends say keep the teeth and wear headgear. But I've heard horror stories about how much headgear hurts?

Which one would be best for me?

Teeth problem!?
OMG thats so similar to my situation!

I had to get baby teeth pulled also, my upper two 'vampire' teeth .. my orthodontist was like eathier get your teeth pulled now or have problems when you get older..

at first i was likee "omg no! im 16! im not having friggen teeth out of the FRONT of my mouth missing! no way! idont caree let me have 'messed up teeth when i'm older' " and i swore %26amp; swore i would not get them pulled out, there was noo way!

but yea anywayss gues what happend? lol i DID wind up getting the teeth pulled! lol but now everythings fine %26amp; they're growing in ..

seriously GET THEM PULLED! lol - it dosent hurt bc they numb it.. and why would you want headgear?! .. the pulled out teeth's new ones will grow in shortly anyways..i knoww noone wants teeth missing, but the headgear? to me that's 10x worse!!!

hope i helped! =] xo0x

%26amp; good luck tomorrow %26lt;3
Reply:have them pulled. it's summertime do you really wanna be wearing that thing?
Reply:missing teeth not sexy get the headgear
Reply:If it were me I'd keep my teeth.
Reply:Do you need the teeth is what is the most important. You know either way is going to hurt so I wld think aoutthat one first.
Reply:i say pull the teeth. i personally dont like headgears so if it was me i would choose the choice where u get ur teeth pulled out. besides it doesnt even hurt cause they give u a shot before it like a pain reliever.
Reply:Sometimes you wear the headgear and then later when you get the braces off having all those teeth still causes pressure, crowding, and teeth movement later. You won't miss the teeth. I didn't miss mine. They pulled them and a year and half later i was done w/ braces. However, the headgear route is probably going to add much more time to your treatment. Hope this helps, but what do you want?
Reply:keep your teeth.
Reply:ok 1st of all, headgear DOES NOT HURT!!!! But i would sayget the teeth PULLED, you won't feel it and do you really want to wear that gear ALL SUMMER??
Reply:Go with the headgear aren't u only going to have to wear it at night? and also you'll probably be much happier later in life cause you don't have missing teeth.
Reply:How old are you? which teeth do they want to extract?

Wisdom Teeth problem?

Okay,

this may sound a bit weird as I dont actually have my wisdom teeth yet

i am 15 and currently have braces, and will do for another year at the least.

I am missing two teeth on my bottom jaw, that should be either side of the centre teeth.

So therefore my teeth are more spread out....I thionk my wisdom teeth may be starting to come through but there is no space at all on the bottom jaw,

my orthodontist has not yet said anything about this, but would she leave it to my dentist?

i have a dental appointment soon should I get my mum to ask him about it?

the top jaw seems to have more space so not worried about that at the moment

anything will do!

Wisdom Teeth problem?
With all due respect, the AVERAGE age for wisdom tooth eruption is 18; there are cases where the eruption has been premature according to standards.

When you go to your regular dentist, tell them your concerns and they'll probably take periapical xrays, or PA's, of the areas where your wisdom teeth are/will be located.

If they are indeed coming in, you'll probably be referred to an Oral Surgeon to have them removed, especially if they're causing you discomfort.

Good Luck!

:)
Reply:My dentist was the one to tell me i needed my wisdom teeth out so I would ask him when you go. He should be able to tell you where they are and if you will need them removed, etc
Reply:Go to an Oral Surgeon, not a dentist. They have a panoramic X-Ray specifically used to look all over the jaw/mouth for your wisdom teeth. the Oral surgeon will be the one who takes them out, not your dentist. Since you're 15 your probably don't have them yet..but you will. It's best to get them out so you dont have any crowding. If you don't your teeth could become crooked or shifted.

Talk to your dentist and have him/her refer you to an oral surgeon for a Panoramic X-ray! Good Luck!
Reply:wisdom teeth erupt at the age of 18 , or after that . if ur treatmant finishes at 16 , and the orthodontist closes all spaces b/w ur teeth (as he is going to do ) , u may experience some problems when these erupt , the wisdom tooth may put pressure on the adjacent one , causing pain , or it may disturb the overall alignment of the teeth. u may talk to ur dentist and clear ur worries.

Wisdom Teeth Problem?

i have experienced bleeding when brushing my teeth for sometime now and always had a weird feeling in my mouth. well i started investigating my mouth and found out that there was a tooth coming out at the far back. i feel no pain though i feel it pressing againts my cheek and a slight dis-comfort sometimes. i observed that it is not exactly in line with the other tooth.

well the bleeding still continued and i got alarmed. so last night i decide to find out where the bleeding was coming from. i took a cotton pad and wiped the inside of my mouth and around the teeth. i found out that the bleeding was from the wisdom teeth. Has anyone ever experienced this before?

Wisdom Teeth Problem?
wisdom teeth only hurt when coming through if there pushing against another tooth. i would check out this with your dentist though as you may have slight gum desease

gud luck xxxx
Reply:They are probably erupting (breaking through the gum). There is not always pain associated with this process, so no worries. Go to an oral surgeon for an evaluation, wisdom teeth usually end up causing more harm than good. I hope this helps!
Reply:First the bleeding when brushing. If your not flossing every day start now. You will bleed from this .but after a month or two your gums should be in better health than they probably are now. If not go to a dentist and have your gums checked out. It's no fun if your gums get ill.

The wisdom tooth is breaking through the gums so some bleeding is natural.

Its hard to judge the degree of alighnment..wait and see if it causes a problem with your bite otherwise keep it . I guess your in your late teens or early twenties.

Hope this helps.

Wisdom Teeth Problem.......?! Help, please?!?

Can someone tell me what's going on w/ me? I had my wisdom teeth (all I had was 3 very impacted) taken out on May 17th. It’s now July 2nd.i'm cleaning the 'holes' and do what I’m supposed to be doing. But my gums are swollen, where the 'holes' are. Plus I cleaned ‘em (this was a few weeks ago) and my gums w/ the 'holes' were bleeding so badly.I called mom in2 the bathroom %26amp; it looked like a slaughterhouse (blood everywhere!) I called the MD who took my teeth out, told me to come in right away. He said everything was ok. Since then my gums still bleed every once in a while, but nothing like that night. I'm going to my regular dentist this afternoon, I want him to tell me if I need to go back and see the MD who took 'em out. The thing is that when my grandfather was in his 30's he got his out. He had perfect teeth, then he got an infection PARIRIA (sorry I don't know how to spell it) %26amp; he lost all of his teeth due to that. He was in his 30's %26amp; had to get false teeth. I’m only 20

Wisdom Teeth Problem.......?! Help, please?!?
Back in the day if there was something wrong with your teeth you automatically needed to have then all pulled out. Dont worry about anything like that now! As long as your brushing and flossing, your teeth should be fine! But as far as that bleeding goes. It depends on how complicated the extraction was. It also depends on whether or not you have a dry socket. When you get a tooth pulled. You are supposed to be very careful for the first 24 hours. No spitting, straws, smoking or do anything that can suck out that socket ( or tissue covering the wound where the teeth were extracted.) If you accidently swallowed them are spit them out, it will be a longer and more painful recovery. Ask your dentist today, if he says that it needs to be looked at by your surgeon again, then just go back. Be on top of these things, your teeth are very important!
Reply:I'm not an expert, but when I had my wisdom teeth removed, I bled for awhile. Something might have eaten something that cut the wound, making it bleed like it did. Talk to your dentist. He will be able to tell you what you need to do.

I havent brushed my teeth THAT much in the past few years or so, i have a dentist appointment in 2weeks,?

i havent been to the dentist in 2 years, and i have some very serious teeth problems, i need braces, i have a cavity that i never got filled 3 years ago, and im so afraid of what else i might need done. * anything anyone has to say would be appreciated,* im freaking out!! im 21 , what do you think about the braces thing? my teeth are wicked bad, im definitely going to do it because i need to fix my teeth. (it does kind of suck though). im afraid i have gingivitis.

I havent brushed my teeth THAT much in the past few years or so, i have a dentist appointment in 2weeks,?
don´t worry about gingivitis...... worry about periodontitis!!!!!! if you have it, fix it before even thinking about braces...
Reply:First off, start brushing your teeth at least 2x a day. Seriously, it is gross to NOT brush. You will have nasty breath and nasty teeth. and get the braces....no one wants someone with teeth that look like they are throwing gang signs!
Reply:There's clearly only one way to fix things, and you have the appointment. It's not like it hurts, the anxiety is in your head, not your mouth.

'
Reply:I'm sure your dentist will do a deep thorough cleaning prior to putting braces on you, but you're going to have to improve your dental hygiene habits as your teeth are even more susceptible to decay/ problems once they have dental items sitting on/around them.

There are really fun tooth brushes these days, they do all the work for you, buy one. and toothpastes range from lemon ice to berry blast, get some, Listerine destroys plaque, gingivitis, etc...
Reply:Well I would start brushing using baking soda and wouldn't sweat the appointment that much
Reply:im only 14 and i havent been to the dentist in at least 5 years...

i never had the motivation to brush my teeth and never realized how bad it was not to brush until recently.. i just started brushing again(i used to do it about once a week)and its hard and i feel like its sort of pointless, since i already have tons of cavities. its like, why dont i just get all my teeth pulled and get some denchers already. i feel horrible for not doing it and i dread the next time i go to the dentist, which i know wont be for another couple years because of our low income.

i just suggest that since its only been a few years for you, then you just go through with it. your dentist will fix your teeth and maybe give you that motivation to keep it going(since im assuming that you will be paying for it, what better motivation is there?)

just dont sweat it, if that dentist makes you feel like an idiot or embarrasses you, then just get a better one.
Reply:you should have been brushing your teeth at least 2x a day, make it a habit to do so. Second, since you have braces, you should have been going to the doctor once a year at least, or once per 2 years max, how can you have waited 3 years? That's time long enough for you to take your braces off....Thirdly, how do you last 3 years without going to the doctor with a cavity, I can't even last 2 weeks with a cavity because its THAT painful. But....if you don't go soon, and really soon, i fear for your mouth

p.s. do you have a girlfriend? If you do, how do you manage to kiss her with an uncleaned mouth? It's just plain nasty for both of you...
Reply:I think the braces are a good idea if you are unhappy with the condition of your teeth. I have met many people in their 20 somethings that have chosen this point in their lives to get braces or a retainer, so it is not at all odd, and in two years your teeth will be very presentable. Also, braces aren't all overwhelmingly metal, talking to your dentist can reveal whether invisible braces are sufficient for you.

Secondly, gingivitis can be very serious and involves more than just bleeding gums. If you live with it too long, your teeth will fall out, to put it simply. However, it is reversible. There are prescriptions if it is most severe, but even better, a regularly scheduled teeth cleaning by the dentist will end and prevent it. Your teeth will be at their best under those conditions.

The best thing to do, which I believe you have already done, is to make the appointment and take care of it. Don't think about it or second guess it because you know its what you need. You'll feel better about your oral health and yourself in the end.
Reply:Your dentist will tell you everything you need to know. Try not to be embarrassed. Many dentists have changed their attitudes from admonishing patients about what they should have been doing all this time to future planning and care.I promise you that he/she has seen much worse. 21 isn't too late to turn your dental health around.

You might be surprised and find out it's not as bad as you thought. On your first visit the dentist will come up with a treatment plan that's spread out to fit your situation. Many dental problems have nothing to do with how well you cared for your teeth. You may not have to go with braces. Another way to go is to get all porcelain veneers or crowns and it's all done within a month.

There's many options out there that you don't know about. Talk it over with your dentist and don't be afraid!
Reply:First start brushing your teeth at least twice a day everyday. You dentist can and probably do a deep cleaning. Don't freak out about it just take a deep breath. You'll be amazed how much better your teeth will feel afterward. If you want braces then go for it. You can always get the invisible ones and no one will ever know that your wearing them. If you want a permanent fix I'd would look into lumaneers. They'll be straight and permanently stay white because they never stain. Good Luck at the dentist and remember take a deep breath everything will be fine! ;)
Reply:Relax. Start brushing your teeth two times a day. Use floss and a mouth wash. Im glad you are doing the braces. it will make it easier in general with everything.
Reply:That was a problem of years ago, dentist insulting remarks. If one does this to you simply get out of the chair and leave. Find another dentist. They considered themselves as gods. Too many dentist around today and if they want you as a patient will be understanding and sympathetic. If you are not treated as a human being report him. Th theADA for harassment and attitude. They will take actions against

Wait for his consultation on the needs, then take it from there. him.
Reply:I'm sorta in the same situation as Punk Princess except it's too late for my teeth. I'm 14 too, and my teeth are all rotten inside and keep breaking off. I already lost some molars and all my front teeth and now I'm gettin the rest pulled out since I don't have that many left that are any good. I haven't been to a dentist in over 5 years until recently when my teeth started crumbling and I lost a couple front teeth. I knew I had lots of cavities and felt like Punk Princess that there wasn't much use in goin nuts tryin to brush and floss really good cuz my teeth were already pretty rotten. Now I'm losing them all and have to get some fake ones to put in when we get the money. I didn't think this could happen at my age. You probly should go get checked out unless you want your teeth to go like mine did and have to get plastic ones.
Reply:I used to be in the same boat as you. I have really bad crooked teeth, i had about 14 cavities, from small cavities to deep ones. I had plaque all within me teeth and I have never been to the dentist before. First thing you need to do is start now. I am 21 and I started my treatments with my teeth when I was 20. The faster and earlier you go to the dentist the cheaper it will be overall. If you have gingivitis you need to get that taken care of, if it gets worst then later on you have to have gum sergery and it is very painful. They rip the gums from your mouth and scrape all the bacteria out of there. If you have cavities you need to get them filled too because it could turn into a root canal, same thing they are very painful and more money goes into a root canal then getting a cavity filled. Once all that is done consider going to a orthodontist for braces. Your teeth has to be in good shape before you can get braces. It seems like you need a lot of work but only because it took you so long to take care of your teeth. Brush them at least twice a day, floss as often as you can remember because food gets in between your teeth and gets into your gums. Thats how you get gingivitis. It took me a while to get my teeth cleaned and fixed up before i got braces. Your mind is on the right track that you need to get your teeth fixed, keep going until you have that hollywood smile. Becuz if you dont take care of them.. in 10 years you might not have any teeth to work with. Good luck. i think any kind of money and pain is worth being able to smile confidently without any embarassment.
Reply:Many orthodontists won't even look at you for braces until you've been cavity free for at least 6 months - so start brushing and flossing every day. They won't waste their time trying to straighten teeth on someone who won't take care of them. And, if you have periodontitis or bone loss, your mouth may not be able to support the braces. So that means that you will have to get all your teeth fixed and cleaned, then keep them in that condition. Then talk to your dentist about braces or what your next course of action will be.

Whats more important whiter teeth or smaller stomach to you?

im overweight but not like huge...and i have yellowish teeth from teeth problems i have..well i have enough money this check for teeth whitening products or the alli pill to help lose weight natarually? so whats more important to you?

Whats more important whiter teeth or smaller stomach to you?
I have heard bad reviews about the Alli Pill, but in my opinion you can't go wrong with a beautiful, white smile. Besides, which would you rather see coming at you...a cute guy with a six-pack on his stomach and yellow teeth or a nice set of "pearly whites" with a little "pooch" just above the belt....things that make you go...hmmm.
Reply:Get yourself physically fit, THEN worry about your teeth. As long as they're not rotting out of your head, they'll be there for the next time you have some spare change.
Reply:Use the money for a counseling session. You need to look somewhere other than on the outside for what really matters. Walk there. Do it again next pay period. Soon enough, you'll FEEL good enough on the inside and the outside. Good luck~
Reply:Don't take alli---don't you know about the side effects???

You will have explosive diarrhea or anal leakage---the package even tells you to bring spare underwear %26amp; clothes if you go away!!
Reply:i would buy the teeth whitining product because you can lose weight withought the alli pill- i have also heard some gross horror stories about that pill. so why not whiten your teeth and lose weight at the same time by dieting and excercising?
Reply:You can become physically fit without the use of pills. It takes proper diet, exercise and determination. This can be done without cost. You will want your teeth to be with you the rest of your life, so take care of them. As for whitening your teeth, some over-the-counter products work reasonably well; however, it is best to consult your dentist for the best products.
Reply:LOOSE YOUR WEIGHT NATURALLY AND GO AND GET YOUR TEETH WHITENING DONE , ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THINGS ABOUT ANYONE IS THEIR SMILE.

Teeth problem?

I have a tooth missing on the bottom part and teeth next to it. The last tooth is getting crooked what can I do to keep this aligned and also i want to get a tooth in place of the missing one. What should I ask for when I go to the dentist...thanks

Teeth problem?
Invisalign. I just got my braces off and for my retainer my orthodontist gave me invisalign. It does not hurt and all my friends have to be told my retainer is on for them to see it, and they still have a hard time. If you look in the dentists office u will notice they have a lot of posters about Invisalign. It's highly recommended. Happy New Year and good luck!!
Reply:Sounds like you will need an implant.
Reply:go to an orthodontist. the dentist doesnt straighten teeth. they just keep them healthy
Reply:yay!!
Reply:Exactly what you just asked here
Reply:could be a prob with the gums , so maybe if thats treated then it will help the problem i think u just need to asl wot can be done and if they can provide u with a single denture to replace the missing one good luck
Reply:Tell the dentist what you want. Ask him if he can do it and how much will it cost. I think you should go see an orthodontist.
Reply:open your mouth and say "FIX THIS"! but try not to go to one of those idiots that say" YOU MAY FEEL A LITTLE PINCH" , and the next thing you know, there's a train wreck in your mouth ! I HATE (actually,i'm afraid) DENTISTS !
Reply:Start by asking friends and family members if they can recommend a dentist. Once you have found one ask what your options are. If you have insurance check to see what they will cover and then go for the best replacement. Implant or bridge. Your dentist will decide if you need an orthodontist or a periodontist. Good Luck.
Reply:SEE A DENTIST AND FIND OUT YOUR OUT YOUR CHOICES.

False teeth?

i am a teen for the last 9 years or so i have had teeth problems but lately it has got-in whores do you think i should get false teeth

False teeth?
Talk to your Dentist about it.

Try to save the teeth you have.
Reply:why don't you just whittle a pair?
Reply:No. You probably won't be happy with them. The top ones are usually fine, but bottom ones usually slip around and are a hassle. Besides, you're a teenager, right? You don't want to deal with that for the rest of your life.

Take care of what you've got. If there's no way possible to salvage what you've got or if there's no possible way you could afford fixing what you've got, then maybe consider dentures, but only as a very last resort. : )

my front teeth are crooked, i have more cavities than i can count and my wisdom teeth are coming in and crumbling as soon as they break the surface. I steer clear of sweets as much as possible but the main problem is i am TERRIFIED of the dentist. The last time I went I had a panic attack in the waiting room. The smell makes me want to gag. I can't even watch my fiance brush his teeth, it just grosses me out. I think I have a teeth phobia maybe...

Teeth problem?

ever since young i didn't take care of my teeth and end up my teeth are yellowish and not straight. when i was much younger the dentist advise my parents to pluck away my tiger tooth but in the end my parents did not andend up my top teeths are ugly.this has cause me to be low confidence. and i do not dare to smile much even though people say i got a nice smile. i know braces will be a choice but it take a long time. is there any other solution? i know i got an ugly set of teeth and it make me feel lousy of myself. how much is such solution?

Teeth problem?
depending on how old you are you can have the tooth removed(im saying this, but can see what it looks like so dont qoute me on it) go to the detist and see your options maybe they can remove it..its not too late to have nice teeth...and they're is always bleaching(crest whitestrips work well) with sensodine toothpaste to help with sensitivity of whitening your teeth..you could do braces or if your younger wait and you can have invisalign done..clear,looks like a mouth gaurd ..nobody will see you are wearing it..straightens teeth..good luck..you are not alone
Reply:Braces might have to be the way to go. Buy crest white strips and try to whiten your teeth. Gargle with crest pro health. I reccomend it cause it helped me out a lot. I dont know of any other way unless you drill decay away. Braces help straighten up thing. Im not a dentist, but I have been to 4 different ones. Plus hygentists. very painful hehe. hope this helps.

Tooth problems!?

Between my two back teeth on the left hand side I have a really bad pain. It's not there until I bite down on my teeth, but when I do it's unbearable! I've seen my dentist and she said that nothing's wrong, but it's been like this for a week. She put two fillings in, but on other teeth.

Do you think it could be due to grinding my teeth which I do subconsciously? Any other explanations and tips to make the pain go away?

Thanks!

i think u should ask another dentist
Reply:Wisdom teether are impacted. Go get them ripped out before they ruin the rest of them.
Reply:See another dentist.

Reply:It def can be from teeth grinding...get a new dentist and a night guard for your mouth to prevent teeth grinding...This happened to my friends sis
Reply:It could be a piece of food stuck below the gum line. You could have gotten a periodontal pocket, which is essentially a divet in the gum line, caused by eating sharp food, over-flossing, or over brushing. The best bet is to have a good cleaning, and if that doesn't work, as your dentist for a topical cream to help desenstize the area.
Reply:I had this some years ago and it turned out to be an impacted wisdom tooth. It didn't go away until the tooth blocking it was taken out. Ask your Dentist to do an X-Ray.
Reply:YES! I had this same exact problem...the dentist filed down the tooth that was coming into contact with it and it doesn't hurt any more. Go to the dentist and tell him/her exactly what's happening because it will just get worse. Have an x-ray done and have your bite checked out, it is probably uneven like mine. Also afterwards you might get a mouthpiece for bruxism. (nighttime teeth grinding)
Reply:I would get a new dentist asap. Who knows what the problem is. Probably a crack tooth which would require a crown. I would definitly get a second opinion.

Good Luck
Reply:I think that you might want to go back to the dentist. If she still doesn't see any thing wrong, you could try buying something like the mouth guards that are used in sports to try to prevent grinding your teeth. It is possible that the pain is coming from that but I would be sure that you don't have an infected tooth.
Reply:I have the exact same problem, I want to know what it is! I hope your pain goes soon!
Reply:Using a natural remedy is the oldest form of medicine, and a natural remedy is still considered by many to be the best way to treat the body. Your natural remedy works with the body, and may not cause health problems associated with unnatural products. Simply put, natural remedy treatments are natural ways to better health.
Reply:I had something similar several years ago. It turned out my bite was wrong and I was biting too hard because one of the filings was slightly too much. The dentist burred the filing down a bit and I was fine afterwards. Apparently there was uneven wear on the filing which told him this was the problem.

Mind you, it could also be due to you grinding your teeth when you are asleep and loosening a tooth. I've done that too.

A decent dentist shouldn't just ignore problems like this ...go back and insist she has another look. If she refuses change your dentist.

Try rubbing 'oil of cloves' on the tooth...tastes horrible but works for a bit. It does need to be the oil and not clove essence.

Tooth problems/habits?

I bite my nails and then take it off and put it in my mouth and put it in between my gums like floss. I know, it's discusting, but it's a habit, and it's like self medicating, or whatever you call it, it hurts but I like how it feels. Its fricking weird! Does anybody else do this? Anyways, the bottom of all my teeth touch, but around the front on some teeth you can notice that there is a slight hole in between the two teeth by the gums, on my two front teeth. It's embarrassing, but it makes me self-conscious. Sometimes you can't even notice it, but I'm doing this for myself. I am getting braces soon. Will this fix it?

Tooth problems/habits?
Braces might fix it. It's hard to say for sure without knowing your dental history.

Teeth problem! Pleasse help!?

I have a ugly gap about a centimeter in a half wide between my two front teeth. I hate hate hate it. Braces are too expensive for us right now so I can't do that, but does anybody know of any home remedies for, ummm, moving teeth together.??

When I'm bored and just sitting watching tv or something I try to take my two thumbs and work on pushing them together a little bit but I dont know if it works. What about putting a thin rubber band around the two teeth to push them together more?? Lol, please help!!!!!!!!!

btw, I know I cant do anything too drastic without real braces because it might cause weirder gaps in some other teeth, I just want to close the gap a little =]

Teeth problem! Pleasse help!?
just braces==thats it==
Reply:No home remedies that I know of.However if braces are not an option your dentist can bond tooth colored filling material to close the gap.Its usually more cost effective but may need to be replaced in about 7-10 years depending on your home care and staining.Another option is veneers much longer lasting and do not discolor. However the cost will be significantly higher. If these to teeth are your only problem the orthodontist may only need to put bracket's on those to.That may also be less expensive.Have a consultation.
Reply:Do not worry so much about them. In our Kurdish culture this is a sign of good luck.

Good luck

Teeth Problem Help please?

When i Was a kid i tripped and Chipped My tooth then i had that thing put in my teeth were it covers the Chipped part and it was yellow and i also got discouraged and didnt want to smile and i didnt want to smile ever again so everytime i smile i Smile Withought Showing My Teeth and i cant afford Braces or N E Thing i dont know what to... DO F@#K This i hate it what should i do to Make My Teeth Look Better

Teeth Problem Help please?
Go back to the dentist and get a new filling / bonding. Over time, white fillings tend to stain.

Then you will have your smile back!!!!
Reply:Why did the dentist cover the chipped part with something yellow???

Surely they could match it to your own enamel colour.

Go to a good dentist and ask him to replace it with something a bit whiter. They have many shades of tooth colour out there now.

Teeth problem. please help.?

I am a 15 year old girl.

I have just been to the dentist today. Last I was there is about a year ago. But well, my dentist found big cavities in 5 of my back teeth, and I got really shocked! But like that isn't enough, I also have a cavitie on my front tooth! I am going to have it all done on monday.

The cavities in my back teeth are really big, and maybe one of them will need a root canal. I am really scared.

What it is like to get a root canal? does it hurt more than getting fillings. Cause I hate getting fillings! :(

What is it like to have a filling in a front tooth? can you tell that I have it?

I am only 15, and I have already had 14 cavities, and now maybe also a root canal ): is it normal for a 15 year old? Or are my teeth really bad?

please help. I really need it!

Teeth problem. please help.?
Honestly root canals (RT) are sore after you have them done. The dentist will be removing the nerve of the tooth with files, that he moves up and down against the inside of your tooth. The up and down motion "works" the tooth OR exercises it. There is a lining around the roots of your tooth that can actually be bruised by "working" the tooth. So yes it can be sore for a couple of days after your RT. Just think about you not exercising for a long time and then you decide to get back into shape. You are going to be sore when you first start to work out right?**Act your dentist to take the tooth down just a little so that you're not really biting that hard on the tooth, unless you are eating on that side of your mouth. (The dentist I worked for did this for everyone).

Now for the filling on your front tooth....there are several types of "tooth" colored materials that your dentist can use. They take a color chart and compare your tooth color to the colors that they have. We were very successfull at matching the filling colors with the tooth color. ***JUST know that you will now need to be carefull of what you drink!! Tooth colored fillings can pick up coloring from coffee, tea and sodas. In other words, the filling could turn dark if you are not carefull about how you take care of it!!

In order for you to make sure that this doesn't happen again....see your dentist every 6 months. Most insurance plans cover teeth cleanings every 6 months with x-rays once a year. At least then you'd be able to catch the cavaties BEFORE they get too bad.

It is also important for you to floss and brush twice a day. Most cavaties start between the teeth, so flossing will help stop those cavaties. If your not going to floss/brush 2x a day....then at least do it at night. Your mouth is not active (talking/eating) and you don't produce as much saliva at night. Both of those help you to keep some plaque off of your teeth. So therefore you need to get all the food/plaque off of your teeth at night.
Reply:yeah my teeth are that bad too. We aren't taking very good care of them Tell your parents to tell the dentist to give you laughing gas or a sedative, most dentists offer this now as an incentive to get your teeth fixed, because most of us are afraid of dental pain. I've got 8 cavities (well that was 4 yrs ago last time i saw dentist) so now i probably have like 14 but i just want to get all my teeth out and get dentures. I'm 30 and am sick of my teeth.

Hey Guys That Have Dentist Problems?

I Am no expert but i am writing this to warn any 1 with any tooth problems to see a dentist it is not worth the pain and id rather get my tooth seen to and goo 1 more day a pain then it goes away, rather than having tootache the whole week and it spoils your mood, i am the biggest scardy cat in the world when it comes to teeth.

if your really scared u should get sedation which i am getting done very soon, its worth it in the end dont feel a thing maybe a little bit sickness after the tooth being pulled out but thats normall and goes away

the hole point of me writing this is to tell the young people that if you have a problem please go to the dentist i rejected going for months and it catches up on you big time, if you have a important date coming up see to your mouth before it, so it does not spoil ure day out which is going to happen to me at Fantazia tommorow night

try warm salt water which works sometimes

or brush your teeth gently

or try some nurofen they work wonders for temp

Hey Guys That Have Dentist Problems?
Good advice, although those with a true phobia will need more convincing I feel.
Reply:you said ,so to speak, a mouthfull lol go to the dentist things have changed so much its no where near as bad as it was 20 years ago
Reply:I wasn't aware I had "dragon breath" for years until a dentist told me I must have a peridontal treatment. He put me to sleep and spent the next 3 hours cleaning behind my gums, between my teeth, and whatever. In the followup visit, he told me how overdue I was for this cleaning. One tooth HAD to be removed and they found the infection was within 1/8 inch of breaking into my left eye socket. Had that of happened, I wouldn't be here today to describe the need for visiting dentists for regular checkups and cleaning.
Reply:Great to see someone trying to encourage people after their own experience.

Too often ppl leave things till something forces them to go see a dentist eg large facial swelling or sever pain.

Everyone should go for a check up to make sure they are registered and talk about how to fix their teeth, the best treatment for toothache and dental problems is PREVENTION!! do things to stop them happening!!!

I know there are various reasons people dont go to the dentist mainly fear or unable/un-willing to pay for treatment.

All NHS dentists have guidlines and charges will be the same, and ALL NHS EXAMINATIONS ARE FREE!! ( so no excuses ppl for not getting registered!!)

Ensuring you are registered also gives you certain benefits like access to Emergency Treatment - if you are not registered then no one has to see you, registered patients have to be seen in emergency situations within 24 hours. ( a crown or "cap" out is not an Emergency.

Again as said in previous posts if you have a big day or event you want teeth sorted for go early to the dentist, depending on treatment needed you may need to attend lots of appointments, and some things take longer, like false teeth can take approx 5 visits usually 1 week appart so thats going to take at least a month, and the dentist may be busy or fully booked 3 or more weeks in advance!!

Good Luck to everyone who overcomes their fear and makes that appointment to go to the dentist, remember if you need to take someone for support then do that!!

Teeth Problem!!!!?

I have had crooked teeth all my life but now I am wanting to model and my teeth are ruining my life because I don't want people to see my messed up teeth... I looked into veneers but they are waaay to expensive then I seen a commercial for dentures.. that are a resonable price and I know this is weird but... I want to know if I can still keep my REAL teeth and get dentures to pop in when I'm at a photo shoot or in public or something! atleast until I can afford to get the veneers! PLEASE HELP MY TEETH ARE RUINING MY LIFE!

Teeth Problem!!!!?
what about braces or invisalign? It's not cheap, but your teeth are worth the investment, especially if it helps you get modeling jobs :) I think talking to a professional about your options is the best thing to do. Good luck!
Reply:Talk to a dentist, they have something called "Luminers" That are faboulus.
Reply:consult a dentist and find the best of it. its very easy to make it well
Reply:Depending on the severity of your own teeth, usually the prop departments of movie sets have stuff like that that can fit over your own teeth.or just get them fixed and then go into modeling.

White teeth in a dream, what could this mean???

In my dream I went for a dentist visit, and in the process of the check up the dentist brushed my teeth and they turned white, I was amazed for their whiteness and beauty. I didn’t even ask for them to be white, yet they were white and amazing and I was really happy ...

In reality my teeth are white and I don't complain of any teeth problems, so what could this dream mean???

White teeth in a dream, what could this mean???
Teeth often represent how confident you feel, and how well you "have your life together" with your responsibilities, relation to others, and work performance.

For example, people often have dreams that their teeth are falling out when they feel that their life is falling apart or they are not confident that they are making a good impression.

So if you dream that your teeth are beautiful and gleaming white that is definitely good! Your teeth represent your outer appearance and making a good impression and having your life together.

Also because you didn't seek out a whitening, it seems that this whiteness was naturally inherent in your teeth, waiting to be revealed. I'd be curious to know if you and the dentist spoke to one another in your dream, because he is playing the role of a teacher.

Great dream!

Reply:Your teeth can be about your ability to understand things.

The dream seems to be speaking about the fact that you may be seeking help in understanding something. In the process of doing this, you have received more than you expected and this may influence in a positive way, the way others see you.

Wisdom teeth problem?

i am 20 and my wisdom teeth have broke through the skin and are about half way out. for the last 5 days i am having constant pain in my bottom front 6 teeth and gums it feels like there is alot of pressure between each tooth, now today all my teeth seem to be hurting and when i clench my teeth it hurts and seems that have moved...so im wondering will i have to have my wisdom teeth removed or is this just a regular thing that people go through when those teeth come in. please any advice is appreaciated i`m going crazy with this pain : (

Wisdom teeth problem?
Get them removed! I have to get all four of mine removed due to the lower ones being infected and pain of the upper ones pushing my other teeth.

My lower wisdom teeth only came out a little and the gum flap hanging over it allowed bacteria to grow. Now the tooth has come in more and it looks and feels horrible. The tooth is like see through almost on the part where the gum flap once covered it.

My front lower teeth hurt, because the wisdom teeth have grown in further and my top teeth hurt from the wisdom teeth hitting into the roots of the tooth next to it.

The oral surgeon has put me on antibiotics and vicodin...my surgery date is 12/21/07.

Just do it! They say it's better when you are younger.

I'm so scared though!
Reply:You'll have to get rid of them. Its an easy surgery, and if you don't they might start making your teeth crooked.
Reply:i am younger than you and they made surgery to me to take my wisdom teeth because of the braces and it didnt hurt.i think on the future i am not having that that problem.
Reply:Consult your local dentist. You may have to remove 1-4 wisdom teeth. I had all four removed when it started affecting my teeth alignment. It's a simple outpatient procedure.
Reply:go to your dentist, and they will probably send you to an oral surgen to get them removed. its a very common surgery, because most people will get these sympoms, or even worse. if all your teeth are hurting, that means they are moving, and will start to change positions if you dont get them removed. just prepare to have a puffy face for about a week, and eat lots of soup and jello!
Reply:Pressure and pain are good signs they will have to come out. Go to your dentist ASAP. Take Advil for the pain until you can get them out. Don't ignore/ put it off or your teeth may become crooked.

I just got mine out and it is such a relief once they are out and healed.

Question about abscess teeth?

plain and simple i just have bad genetics, i forgot what it was called when you're body can't fight off the bacteria that causes tooth problems but i have it.

my question is that after gettin abscess teeth removed about a year ago and doing the dose of antibiotics is it possible that he didn't let them drain or get the abscess out to begin with or that he could of somehow pushed the infection to other teeth? after the procedure was done i felt my jaw and still felt the pocket bumps of the abscess' and when i went back and asked him a week later he got extremely defensive and told me that he got it all( i knew he didn't since i've had abscess' taken care of before) and when he was doin the procedure i don't think he let them drain or pop them if needed be. i know he was ticked off cause i couldn't afford root canals so he just pulled my teeth which i was ok with since they'd end up gettin infected later. well now i have another abcess in the surrounding area and am get'n checked out

Question about abscess teeth?
hi i would definatley go toa different dentist. myhusband has thesame problem as is at the moment waiting to go and have an operation to remove all his bottom molars and be fitted for a bridge. your dentist soundslike a je*k, try a new one.

best of luck.

15 month old daughter and teeth questions, Help!?

My daughter is 15 months and has a serious underbite, (her bottom teeth and top teeth dont align right, the bottom are way in front of the top) i know that it is defintly too early to determine what kind of tooth problems your child will have when the baby teeth fall out and new ones grow in but im just so curious to know if any parents out there have been thru the same situation and i want to know the outcome. Did the child need braces at an older age? Did it go away once new teeth grew in? I took my daughter's pacifier away at 4 months because i didnt want her to get stuck on it and end up having bad teeth! Do you think this has anything to do with it? Please give some advice. Thanks.

15 month old daughter and teeth questions, Help!?
Children need to see a dentist at 2 years, just to get them used to seeing a dentist, and the dentist can usually tell you then if there is going to be any serious problems and may even be able to tell you how to avoid them.

I wish I could tell you something else but My kids have been seeing a dentist since the were 2. And my dentist has always been able to predict any problems.
Reply:Her jaw is still forming, you wont be able to tell if she needs braces or not until her permenant teeth come in. It will still be a couple of years after that because the teeth have to shift into their correct place.

Teeth problem..need help!!?

i have a tooth in the roof of my mouth behind and between two teeth, the on on the left is just growing in because the tooth in the roof of my mouth has been blocking it off, and this tooth in the roof of my mouth is lodged up in the gums and between the two roots making a gap between my teeth :(.

but im getting it out this thursday..would my teeth grow back normally? how do you think they would do after a while?

would they grow straighter?

im still getting braces later though.

Teeth problem..need help!!?
orthodontic treatments helps move your teeth to their right places so don't worry, that's what the braces are for...

Broken wisdom teeth?

I have had one wisdom tooth for 5 yrs now that has been breaking off in chunks. There is very little of it left out side the gum, the second tooth which I have now had over a year is also breaking off in chunks. I can't afford to see the dentist so I have been surviving on orajel and softer food. Recently I have been getting headaches, could this be caused by the teeth? Is there a safe way that I could remove them myself? I have heard that teeth problems can cause death, and am worried that if they don't come out...

No dentist in my area will take payments and I don't have the 700 or so dollars to get it done! Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Broken wisdom teeth?
hi buddy, seems like the tooth has got necrosed and it's infected, and it's spreading. it can be be the reason of ur headache, if the infection is spreading, well, there is no way that self extraction can be done,. it is dangerous as well as impossible because a lot of nerve and blood vessels pass through the area which needs to be anesthetised before the extraction is performed and a single mistake done during the time, can result in even paralysis. so, it's better that it be done by a professionally qualified person, the only treatment for ur teeth at present seems to be extraction, though a course of antibiotics may help but only for a short duration, dologel is just an analgesic, it is not treatting ur tooth or infection, it is just masking the symptoms and making the things worse for u. better you go for an antibiotic therapy for 5 days so that the symptom subsides and after that go for an extraction. if u can't afford to go to a dentist, u can check out in general hospital in your area, extraction is considered an emergency treatment and is usually free in general hospitals.......

if u still got any doubts, u can surely ask me
Reply:You might get an infection. The headaches can be caused by the bad teeth. Is there a free clinic in your area? 700 dollars seems really high for just an extraction. You might try to find a cheaper dentist. If you cannot get it removed right now, at least get a prescription to stop the infection. If the tooth enamel is down below the gum line, there is no way you can remove them yourself. Have you tried asking any charities for help, like salvation army, helping hand?
Reply:It's hard to believe no dentists will take monthly payments!! Yes, of course, this is dangerous to your health.... those teeth must come out, but don't even consider doing that yourself. No way !!Call one of the agencies that are committed to helping people... like the United Way. They can possibly help you find a dentist who will accept low payments. Good luck.... but please, get those teeth removed ASAP.
Reply:That's a tough situation. Is there anyway that you can get state insurance or anything. It's a serious situation and the headachs are cause by that. They can get really infected and it could become serious. Some dentist accept a small amount up front and then you can pay the rest another times. Especially if it' for a large aount. Please get it checked out. If you teeth are breaking off then they are rotten or infected so PLEASE don't give up on a place
Reply:just go to social services to get an affordable one... extracting a worse tooth is good opition for 300 dollars it wont be 700
Reply:No, there is no way you can remove the teeth yourself.

Contact your county's department of social services. If you are low-income, then they can get you in to see an oral surgeon to get them pulled. You can also see if you have a college/university near you that has a dental school:

http://www.dentalsite.com/dentists/densc...
Reply:OW!

You can't go on with this. You have to have things taken care of. No, you can't take care of this by yourself. This is a surgery you're talking about, here. You most likely need an oral surgeon.

It sounds to me like your problem may be getting worse. Infection or something? I let my problem go, and ended up with an infection inside the jaw bone that took 3 diferent specialists to cure me.

You HAVE to get this done. See if Social Services can help. This could conceivably end up in an infection so bad that you could die.

I got spacers on Wensday and its now Friday. Spacers dont hurt like the first hour. That night it really hurt i..I kept waking up in the middle of the night with a pain and soreness. The second day was just as bad i couldnt eat hardly anything i even had trouble eating mashed potatoes. Todays the third day and i felt pain this morning as i woke up, when i had lunch i was able to eat mac and chesse without much pain. I got Peroxyl mouth wash and that really seemed to help ease the pain. I had dinner a while ago and i really didnt have that much pain, even though i had soup. But now i just feal just a little discomfort but nothing big i am able to eat alot more types of foods with the left side of my mouth now..And the pain is not even close to what i had the first two days. But i recommand the Peroxyl mouth wash it does ease the pain for a while.

Did you know that smoking can cause your teeth to rot?

All my molars are messed up, and someone just told me today that smoking causes teeth problems. The only thing I though smoking did was make teeth yellow. To tell you the truth, I am pretty upset that neither my dentist or anyone in the dang educational system I grew up in here in Georgia ever told me that smoking causes teeth problems. If I knew that smoking cigarettes caused teeth problems, I would have the same option towards tobacco as I do towards meth. I am really upset, and I don't understand why I didn't know this. Is it common knowledge that tobacco causes your teeth to rot. I can't afford another dang root canal.

Did you know that smoking can cause your teeth to rot?
Smoking does NOT cause your teeth to rot. Bad oral hygeine (or heredity) causes teeth to rot. As long as you do not have hereditary problems and you brush your teeth, your teeth will not rot, smoker or not....

Anti-tobacco people will blame anything and everything on smoking. If you are a smoker and you say that your monkey that lives in another state died, they will say it is from 2nd hand smoke 2 states away!
Reply:wow that really sucks. Smoking is bad! Don't do it!
Reply:yes i have seen others suffering. i do not smoke at all so i dont need to worry.
Reply:Are you or have you been on meth? Maybe that is what they are talking about. It is a fact that meth will make your teeth rot.

Smoking tobacco is not healthy for anything either.
Reply:yes, you should have realized that all that smoke going past your teeth wasn't going to do them any good. Also, have you ever noticed how smokers have ugly teeth and terrible breath.
Reply:Yes, I knew and it also affects your lungs and breath
Reply:yes thats why i hate it
Reply:yes, smoking is the worst thing you can do for your teeth
Reply:yeah i nkew that. it really isnt common knowledge, but its something everyone should know smoking can cause rottage of teeth, cancer, and emphysema. cancer and emphysema eat away at your lungs
Reply:i'm sorry you weren't aware of the serious implications of smoking. smoking causes a lot of health problems. it makes your hair and nails brittle, damages the elasticity of your skin, causes tooth decay not to mention the effects on your entire internal system.

Tooth problems?

December 07 My top front tooth was pulled due to a cap ruined and the post got fractured. This stuff that he says looks like parmesian cheese got put in my gum to help form and shape for when my real tooth gets put in. The same tooth pulled is my temporary its glued in and got stitched in too and a metal pin is in the back of my teeth. I waited to smoke after stitches were out, and i saw and felt a little gap and i played with it an pressed my tongue in the gap and it made a click. and my tooth is seperated from my gum more now, i brush my teeth alot and the gum area where the stitches were, and the dot where he put the stitches at was just a little red dot and now is more of a small cut, also the top front of my tooth shows grey, i know thats not good. has anyone seen this after work like this as well? grey on top of the tooth? i over brush most likely and i know smoking cigs and Weed doesnt help, it keeps me sane though. anyone know about what this grey is? and is it serious?

Tooth problems?
been there done that. I lost eight teeth up to this point in my life (don't ask at least not publicly), I'm seriously thinking of saying f-it and have the rest just yanked.

As for you - first off, you screwed up by smoking - it cuts circulation and slows healing. The grey tooth is dying (if not dead), that's probably gonna end up being pulled or capped too.

Call the dentist ASAP - you need to get back in there if you want to salvage what you have left.
Reply:no
Reply:most teeth will be grey from being damaged, maybe its a dead tooth, nothing to worry about.
Reply:See a dentist!
Reply:Yeah I know what you mean. I have to get my two front teeth re-enameled from over brushing. They are grey/brownish from smoking, drinking coke (probably) (cola drink that is.) It's going to cost me $600 per tooth to fix! My friend who dosn't smoke got the same problem from over brushing. Get a soft toothbrush and go easy. Not sure about the other grey stuff. Get a better dentist or keep going back till it's fixed. If it's sore it most likely is infected and antibiotics are needed. OUCH! If I was Prime Minister, I would make dentistry free!

you are not making any sense at all..

if yr front tooth has a fracture, unlikely that they can save the tooth. and once its pulled out,u cant put back a real tooth. and what metal pin? the post... ?

or if u got a crown, the gray area may be a metal margin showing thru.if its natural tooth, its prob dead..

Teeth problem :o( :o( please help?

I am a 15 year old girl

I brush my teeth 2 times every single day, and I floss as well.

I have had 5 cavities, so I have 5 fillings in my teeth.

They are all silver fillings, and they are really visible when I am smiling and laughing. people always comment my teeth and say things like: "oh, you have a lot of cavities" and so on.

I HATE my fillings :( :( :(

Today, I was eating some ice cream, and one of my teeth started to hurt a lot. I looked at it in the mirror, and noticed that there was a black hole in the tooth. I looked at my other teeth also, just to check them, and I noticed that 6 of my teeth looked like the one, which hurts. Do you think they need to get them filled? I really dont want more silver fillings :( :( :( :(

At the same time, my teeth are really crocket!! I HATE my teeth: they are crocet, and they got a lot of silver fillings, and they hurt! Please help me. What can I do?

Teeth problem :o( :o( please help?
I am sorry to say that if your teeth have black holes in them, then yes they will require a filling. If you don't get the treatment the teeth will just get worse and then you will end up needing root canals and crowns. But, you can request a composite filling, which is tooth colored. It blends in so well no one will be able to tell you even have it, and you could also have your old silver fillings replaced with the composite ones. If your current dentist doesn't offer composites then ask your parents about finding one that does, and tell them your complaints. As far as your teeth being crooked (I guess that is what you meant by "crocket"? then you will require orthodontics (braces) to fix them. It may not sound like fun but will be worth it to make you happy with your teeth. After all, you plan on keeping them a long time! Good luck. Mail me if you have any more questions, I am a dental assistant and can probably answer them.
Reply:ask your dentist for a more natural looking filling (white) and ask about getting braces or invisaline for the crooked problem.

Good job brushing and flossing! keep that up and talk to you dentist about any other problems you may have with your teeth!
Reply:I would go to your dentist as soon as you can get an appointment I would also start brushing your teeth whenever you can after you eat.
Reply:Do you drink soda and sugary things? I've heard that even if you brush and floss regularly, they can rot teeth.

But I'd see your dentist, because it could be something more serious than anyone on here will know about.

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.
Reply:If you have that many cavities even with flossing %26amp; brushing, you are eating too much JUNK. Sugary sweet food causes cavities, so eat it rarely.

Talk to the dentist about white colored fillings, and also braces.
Reply:have your dentist check to tooth that is bothering you. your fillings are called amalgam. you can have them replaced with composite fillings (white), however most insurances will not pay to have them replaced unless there is decay or some other problem with the tooth. so it will all be out of pocket expense for the patient. it would probably cost somewhere between $100-$250 per tooth. in addition to brushing and flossing, use act mouth rinse.
Reply:If you have discovered what appears to be holes in your teeth, then yes, you need to be seen by a dentist right away; especially if you are experiencing discomfort with them.

Teeth do not heal up on their own and will only get worse with time.

Ask the dentist to use composite to fill your teeth--It is the tooth colored filling material.

After you have your teeth restored to health ask the dentist to refer you to an Orthodontist who can evaluate the need for braces to straighten your teeth.
Reply:ANGELINA,

IF YOUR OLD SILVER FILLINGS (amalgams) HAVE EVEN A HINT OF NEW DECAY THEY OUGHT TO BE REPLACED WITH COMPOSITE (tooth-colored) FILLINGS.

AS FAR THE LARGE BLACK HOLE THAT HURTS A LOT, THIS IS A CAVITY WHICH MUST BE FILLED.

ULTIMATELY ALL THE SILVER CAN BE REPLACED WITH WHITE, BE PATIENT. ;-))
Reply:Hey,

The tooth that hurts and has a black hole in it definitely sounds like it has a cavity and needs a filling in it, sorry. The other ones that look the same - well if they have actual HOLES in them then yes, they definitely will also need fillings, but if they just have black lines in the grooves of the teeth then it MIGHT just be staining, in which case they won't need fillings, they just need to be professionally cleaned by your dentist.

Anyway, if you're having pain in one of your teeth you need to get a dentist appointment as soon as possible - it won't go away, it will only get worse, and then the filling will be bigger and look worse.

What other people have said about white fillings is true, you can get white fillings in your teeth that no-one will be able to notice, but they cost a lot more than silver fillings, so it depends whether your parents are prepared to pay for them. Maybe you should ask your dentist about getting sealants put on your remaining healthy teeth to stop them developing cavities.

Good luck, but you really have to go to the dentist, sorry!
Reply:i think yes you do get filling you can listen some music or ipod or talk to your dentist something.

My teenager and her teeth..?

How do I get my 17 year old to brush her teeth more.? I am not even sure she even brushes her teeth even once a day.

Other then having really bad breath I fear she is going to have teeth problems. Right now she has medical but it will end when she turns 19. After that is will be up to her to pay for her dental care because I do not have the money.

I know most will say she will brush her teeth when others start to comment on her really bad breath, but I am more worried about the damage it is doing to her teeth and the long term health problems I know it can cause.

My teenager and her teeth..?
Ok, she's 17 and she does not brush..Gross.

Honestly, you need to stop asking nicely and be blunt.

Tell her that her breath stinks and that it's absolutely disgusting not to brush.

My mother would have laid a lecture on me. Probably something like, "I raised you better then to be so disgusting at the age of 17. Do you want people to think you were raised by low class trash? Do you want your teeth to fall out by 25? Do you want to have gaps in your mouth and rotting gums."

Then she would nag me until I did it.

Put your foot down.

If she still doesn't do it; hold her down and brush them for her. Like an infant!!
Reply:haha if you couldnt make her brush her teeth as a toddler, then the teenager will most likely to listen either. She wants messed up teeth that her problem. Not yours.
Reply:well, show her some shock pictures and stuff

show her how haggish people who didn't brush their teeth look later on in life (decayed, yellowed) and see if that changes her opinion.

Bad hygiene of the teeth is my number one biggest turn off... it's such an easy task, twice a day (minimum) for a minute or two... just pretty gross if they can't stay on top of that seemingly simple task.

I've been around boys saying things about encounters with a female and saying how bad their breath was. Sad but true. I have been around girls saying the same about the boys...

Plus the taste of brushing is so delicious. And I can't sleep without flossing my teeth.

Show her all these posts online and tell her to heed our advice, not only for anesthetic purposes but tooth decay hurts major style.
Reply:Did she brush them when she was younger then stop brushing them? If so, then perhaps there is another problem... unwanted attention from someone at school and she is trying to "repel" them? Does the taste of her toothpaste make her sick? (my mom gets a sick stomach from the smell of any kind of mint so uses other flavors to brush)

While she has medical ( I assume that this includes dental....), make an appointment for her to visit a dentist. Let him/her tell her what to do. This will leave you out of it.

Good luck
Reply:Did she brush them when she was younger, but has now stopped or has she always been like this?

If this has been an ongoing thing w/ her...then it is time to take off the proverbial kid gloves. Be brutally honest w/ her. Tell her she as terrible hygiene and it is embarrassing to you and more then likely her friends. Show her pics of what happens when she doesn't care for her teeth. You could even have the dentist lecture her.

If this is a new thing...there may be a problem. She may be using this as a defense mechanism. By keeping her mouth nasty she may be trying to keep something/someone away from her. Set down and talk to her about this. Voice your concerns, but approach her with sensitivity and not frustration. A girl her age should care way more about how she looks, this would raise great concern with me if it is a new thing w/ her.
Reply:she is 17. Other than telling her directly "You have horrible breath and your teeth are beginning to look discolored. It turns people off and can lead to problems later on that you will have to find a way to pay for," there isn;t much you can do. You can't force her to brush. If her breath is bad and she is near you, simply offer her a mint or move. Show her some dental bills and state that in a few years, she will be the one having to pay for them. Then drop it. At this point, other people reacting negatively to the breath will make a larger impact. However, if her whole attitude towards self care has taken a dive...she isn't showering, no longer cares about brushing her hair or what she wears, isn't interested in anything she used to be...keep an eye on her. it could be a sign of depression.
Reply:Take her to the dentist and hopefully they will find a cavity and have to fill it.That will make her think twice about brushing her teeth.

Why do my teeth hurt during my period?

i'm 23 years old. it started when i was in college. i have pinpointed the pain to either my lower left wisdom tooth or my lower left molar. my wisdom teeth are partially grown in. i have never had problems with my teeth - besides braces. but the only time my teeth ever hurt is when i get my period. the pain starts on the first day of my period and lasts the duration of it... sometimes till a day or two after my period. what is causing this? am i the only weirdo that has teeth problems as a part of pms?

Why do my teeth hurt during my period?
Could be the pain radiating from your head, like sometimes ears will get sore if you have a sore head.

OR you could be from clenching your jaw or grinding your teeth when you sleep since this is caused by stress and/or anxiety and lots of people are anxious or stressed when they have their period. You might not be noticing you're doing it.

Another reason to consider is that if you eat more sugary foods and drinks due to cravings at that time of the month your teeth could be extra sensitve and hurt but go away when your eating goes back to normal.
Reply:this happens to me all the time. you are not alone. my eyes hurt too. i think the person who answered last, the one who said it could be water retension, might be on to something..... advil does help Report It

Reply:because you body is trying to reject your teeth. my suggestion...take advil
Reply:You Are Lack In Calcium.
Reply:I've never heard of that before. I am a dental assistant and current going to school for dental hygiene and I've never come across anything like that... Hmmm...
Reply:Go to the Doctor Because it shouldnt hurt!
Reply:my grandma said that when your on your period your wisdom teeth grow more... I seriously dont know where she got that information from, but thats all i can tell you. I dont know if i believe it or not!
Reply:The only thing that comes to mind is water gain and pressure. Does your face feel at all puffy during your periods? If you retain water in your facial tissue, it could cause pressure on the sensitive nerve back there. Since the tooth has only partially come in, it must be hung up and probably in a bad position, making the nerve extra vulnerable to compression.

Try Midol as it has a mild diuretic, or check with both your dentist and regular doctor to see if they agree with my guess...

What are the potential problems of a missing tooth?

I have just had my first molar on the bottom left removed and my dentist has told me that I don't need to do anything about it. I have been researching missing teeth and discovered that there are tremendous problems associated with it like shifting or drifting teeth, bone problems, increased decay. My dentist told me not to worry as the teeth won't drift. I'm confused and worried. Should I visit a new dentist after the gum has healed to get a denture to prevent drifting? I can't afford a bridge or implant right now. Is it essential I do this as soon as possible, or was he right in saying I didn't need to do anything?

What are the potential problems of a missing tooth?
You are right on the money! You could end up with bone-loss, posterior teeth tipping forward, upper teeth drifting down.

Your best alternative is an implant, and it is something you can see an Oral Surgeon for anytime. The best part about an implant is that no other teeth have to be prepared and they are meant to last a lot longer than any other dental appliance we can fabricate.

A 3 unit bridge would mean the two teeth on either side of the missing tooth would have to be prepared (shaved down) to accept the bridge.

Some offices do make a small partial called a Nesbitt, but that can come loose and there is a potential risk of swallowing it.

If you have any other teeth missing a partial can be made.

A Maryland bridge has wings on either side of the missing tooth that are cemented into place but more offices shy away from those for a posterior tooth, too difficult to retain and made as only a temporary fix.

Get a second opinion and weigh out your options.

Good luck
Reply:It sound strange that your dentist didn't think it's a problem. , I would definitely ask for second opinions.
Reply:There is a risk of the teeth on either side of the tooth you had removed shifting into the now 'open' space, but it won't happen tomorrow...

Something called a cantilever bridge can be done... the expense is no more than a crown usually... and it's alot less expensive than an implant or a three-unit-bridge.

Instead of grinding down the teeth on either side to accomodate the 3UB, notches are put in the teeth on the side of the existing teeth facing the space instead. An impression is taken, and it is sent to the lab for processing after a color-match, or shade, is chosen.

The finished product looks like a tooth with a 'wing' on either side, which are used to get cemented into the notches...and it's permanent.

~just an alternative thought........good luck!

:)
Reply:Generally the teeth either side tilt, and the opposing tooth starst to over erupt... this is bad

I don't know if I can help you, but here goes. To find out everything you need to know about orthognathic (jaw correction) surgery, wisdom teeth surgery, implant dentistry, TMJ problems and anything really to do with facial and jaw surgery generally, you should go to www.dentalimplantsaustralia.com. The site is an Australian one, and deals with oral and maxillofacial surgery, and also with dentistry and orthodontics. Good luck! I hope that helps you.

What can I do about my sensitive teeth?

I totally avoid drinking water because it hurts so bad, would the sensodyne*? toothpaste help with sugar sensitivity?

I am drinking some iced tea and my teeth are just aching! I believe i grind my teeth, the front ones hurt on the tops where they touch the back of my top teeth and of course my "problem teeth" hurt whenever i eat almost anything with sugar.

Would the tooth paste be enough for the front teeth? or is there a dental procedure that can be done to help this?

I have medical insurance, but its not the best, would they cover something to help with my sensitive teeth?

I have a very high tolerance for tooth pain, so i'm not being a wuss. (I have bad tooth problems, my two top wisdom teeth need removed because the back side didnt come through enough for me to brush nor could i floss the area because of the way they came in... and i lived with a tooth that needed a root canal for 6 months before getting it fixed)

What can I do about my sensitive teeth?
Couple things.

First try the sensodyne for a week or two. If it doesn't provide relief see if your dentist will write you a script for PreviDent sodium fluoride. It's pretty cheap for a tube and you brush it on before, wait 30 seconds spit it out and don't drink/eat anything for about 30 minutes. It applies a floride bond to the teeth that lessens sensitivity.

If you can't do the dentist route look in the drugstores for something called GelCam in the dental section. It's similar but not as strong. It will probably help though. The Prevident is about 1.1% floride where the Gelcam is about .5%.

Also use a straw when drinking, that will eliminate liquid hitting the teeth.

Hope this helps, Good Luck.

Reply:Sensodyne is absolutely super.

I suffered from sensitive teeth for ever. I couldn't eat chocolate because it would just make my teeth ache with the most horrible pain. I've lost calcium in a couple of my molars and they were so sensitive it hurt to brush them.

I believe it takes about a week or two before sensodyne fully kicks in. I noticed improvements myself in about 3 days.

Still advise you get your dental work done as soon as possible... and make sure you don't have any cavities that are causing the sensitivity.

Hope this helps.

How can i fix my teeth? is my dentist lying to me?

my dentist tells me that i have small teeth which has created a gap between my two front teeth, the gap has caused the teeth next to it to turn and plus one of the front teeth has been pushed back on an angle. he says the only way to fix it is by turning the teeth next to it and pushing all my other teeth forward. however since my canine teeth are in the right place it would cause problems apparently and he would have to shave them down. making my teeth look even smaller. he also wants to x-ray my head because he thinks my jaw will grow. he says i would have to wear the braces for six to eight months. is this a good estimate? my friend thinks my dentist is making it more complicated than it is and is only trying to get money out of me. is this true? are there any other methods possible to fix my teeth problem?

How can i fix my teeth? is my dentist lying to me?
First of all, dentists have caused so many health problems in this country that it is just incredible. Any time you do work on a tooth, you cause it to have trauma. The trauma is cummulative and after about 3 or 4 traumas, the tooth can die. The easiest way to solve the gap problem is to get some bonding done. This is easy and does not require a lot of trauma to the teeth. When you use braces, this is not a permanent fix. The teeth have grown that way for a reason. When you straighten them, it works for several years, but the teeth will still tend to go back to their original placement over time.

x-raying your head? For what? Any radiation is cummulative also. Is he proposing to use the new digital x-ray or the conventional x-ray that is 10 times more exposure.

Ask your dentist if he believes amalgam fillings are O.K. to put in people's mouths and does he do that procedure? Then ask him if he knows how to read an x-ray to determine if NICO exists in the mouth or does he have to physically examine the mouth to determine that?

If the answer to the first question is Yes and the answer to the second question is he can't see NICO in an x-ray, like most dentists can't, you need a new dentist.

The only dentist I let touch my mouth now is a "biological dentist" that uses the right materials and procedures to protect my body of all the damage typical dentists are causing people. Many diseases and serious problems are caused from infections that lie under ALL amalgam fillings and cavitations under root canals done using the standard latex type filling materials used in root canals.

Be VERY cautious about who you let work on your teeth in America. The ADA does not look out for you and are controlling dentists in very negative ways.

good luck
Reply:Get a second opinion
Reply:Try going to a different dentist and see what he says.
Reply:cant you just get braises?
Reply:same problem dude...i got the exact same thing...except my jaw won't grow anymore...and i have to get it stretched...but other wise i have to get braces for 2-3 years...u should go to a diff. dentist and see what he says and if he seems more accurate and correct and reasonable....then maybe its time for a new dentist...
Reply:seems like you can just get veneers. go to a dentist that does restorative work. and they usually have free consultation. good luck!
Reply:Um I'm sorry to say but I really don't think your doctor is the sharpest knife in the drawer. How about going to a new dentist? Get braces? Retainer? Ask a family member?

Remember, looks don't matter. Not everyone had perfect teether=) Stay positive and point out the good things when you look in the mirror!

love, maddiegirl x=)
Reply:It depends how old you are if you're going to grow any more. I would suggest going to another dentist and getting another opinion. Maybe even go to two more. Good luck.
Reply:Nope, your dentist is right you will need braces (in order to make your teeth straight), and I think that is a good time estimate. Also, if you don't believe him you should get a second opinion, from an orthodontist perhaps?!
Reply:I'm 42 years old and I honestly can't understand what the deal is with braces today! As long as you are not totally deformed with your teeth and can talk and eat, leave them as they are. Every one of my kids have been told they need braces. Honestly they are fine! 2 of them have really straight teeth, one has a "small" gap between his front and the other has 1 crooked tooth! Big deal. They eat and talk fine and look good too.

When I was younger, I even remember watching movies with the movie stars even having a crooked tooth or two. Jodie Foster being one of them. It just simply wasn't done as a general rule then like it is now.

And to pay 1500 dollars for one root canal! Get real! "IF" I would pay that kind of money for one tooth, I want a written guarantee that that tooth will be in my head when I die! They won't do it. So yeah, dentists are all about getting all the money they can these days. It's up to you. Think about it.
