Did you know that smoking can cause your teeth to rot?

All my molars are messed up, and someone just told me today that smoking causes teeth problems. The only thing I though smoking did was make teeth yellow. To tell you the truth, I am pretty upset that neither my dentist or anyone in the dang educational system I grew up in here in Georgia ever told me that smoking causes teeth problems. If I knew that smoking cigarettes caused teeth problems, I would have the same option towards tobacco as I do towards meth. I am really upset, and I don't understand why I didn't know this. Is it common knowledge that tobacco causes your teeth to rot. I can't afford another dang root canal.

Did you know that smoking can cause your teeth to rot?
Smoking does NOT cause your teeth to rot. Bad oral hygeine (or heredity) causes teeth to rot. As long as you do not have hereditary problems and you brush your teeth, your teeth will not rot, smoker or not....

Anti-tobacco people will blame anything and everything on smoking. If you are a smoker and you say that your monkey that lives in another state died, they will say it is from 2nd hand smoke 2 states away!
Reply:wow that really sucks. Smoking is bad! Don't do it!
Reply:yes i have seen others suffering. i do not smoke at all so i dont need to worry.
Reply:Are you or have you been on meth? Maybe that is what they are talking about. It is a fact that meth will make your teeth rot.

Smoking tobacco is not healthy for anything either.
Reply:yes, you should have realized that all that smoke going past your teeth wasn't going to do them any good. Also, have you ever noticed how smokers have ugly teeth and terrible breath.
Reply:Yes, I knew and it also affects your lungs and breath
Reply:yes thats why i hate it
Reply:yes, smoking is the worst thing you can do for your teeth
Reply:yeah i nkew that. it really isnt common knowledge, but its something everyone should know smoking can cause rottage of teeth, cancer, and emphysema. cancer and emphysema eat away at your lungs
Reply:i'm sorry you weren't aware of the serious implications of smoking. smoking causes a lot of health problems. it makes your hair and nails brittle, damages the elasticity of your skin, causes tooth decay not to mention the effects on your entire internal system.

  1. Cigarettes have hazardous chemicals like nitrosamines, benzo(a)pyrene, urethane, and toluidine. That's why there are lot of possible diseases that we can get from smoking tobacco. My dad is a chain smoker. Lately, he found out that he has periodontitis when he visited one of the dentists in Charleston SC. His dentist(s) Charleston SC based, advised him to quit his smoking habit to cure his gum problem. Of course, it is not easy for him to stop quickly. Today, he minimizes taking a cigarette. I hope he will totally stop his smoking habit.
