Tooth problems after filling...in need of expert advice!?

I went to a new dentist in March and he filled a cavity in my back top molar. Just an average sized cavity. It's now September and it's still sensitive to cold. I have not gone back to this dentist or called him because I've had another personal situation that prevented me from going back to him....until now. I can't say I was all that impressed with this dentist. So, now I'm wondering if I should go back to him about this or go to a different dentist (who's reputation I know). I just wonder if he screwed something up and if I go to him to fix it, will he make it even worse? Or just tell me there's nothing wrong and send me away after charging me. If there is a problem, should he charge again to fix it? Any ideas on what the problem may be? Also, ever since I got this back tooth filled, my front teeth seem to align differently and my bottom tooth scrapes the back of my top tooth...could this be related in any way? Any help on these matters is much appreciated!

From your last sentence, it sounds to me like the restoration is high and that is what is making your teeth not hit right. This would explain the continued sensitivity. Although we try our best to make sure the bite is correct at the restorative appointment, when a patient is numb, they sometimes don't occlude correctly and this makes the filling not have the bite correct. Please call your doc and have them check the bite on the filling. Tell them on the phone that the bite has been off ever since it was inserted and your problem getting back. You should not be charged for this appointment.
Reply:If its a personal situation that's preventing you from going back to this dentist, then suck it up and go get it fixed. If he didn't do something right or you are having an adverse effect then he will have to fix it for free. if he still doesn't get it right, then you can take legal action. You shouldn't have to suffer because your dentist didn't fill a cavity right. As far as a filling messing up the alignment of your other teeth, that shouldn't happen because your tooth that has the filling isn't going to change size and there isn't anything being put in between your teeth to mess things up. When you call to make the appointment, make sure that you tell the receptionist all of the side effects that you are having.
Reply:well hey sounds like to me that this dentist didn't do a root canal before but i got some fillings to and also i would go back to the dentist i know and also that metal filling is not safe at all because it could give you mercury in it. but for now just put some orgel on it for know.
